Seafood Company to Build 88,000 Square Foot Addition

Icelandic’s expansion will improve their efficiency and increase storage and handling capabilities by eliminating unnecessary and extra transportation, as well as product management between facilities. With all of their resources under one roof, Icelandic® will be able to position themselves more competitively in the marketplace. Rick Barnhardt, Vice President of Supply Chain at Icelandic® is pleased with the plans to expand, “Currently, we use a leased cold storage facility that is away from the headquarters, so we have to double handle everything by receiving raw material in one facility and transferring it to the production building. Our brand new building will optimize efficiency and make a more productive use of our resources, time and capabilities. It will be nice to finally have a place to call our own.”

Icelandic® receives their high quality, raw product from all over the world, including from Iceland, Alaska, Norway and China. The new facility will be used to store the product as it is transformed into value-added seafood products, like battered and breaded fillets. Icelandic® distributes their product to fine foodservice and retail companies throughout the U.S. and Canada. The expansion project will further allow Icelandic® to fulfill their mission statement, which dedicates themselves to consistent superiority in quality of product, workmanship, service and to be environmentally and socially responsible, at a profit level that can sustain growth.
